One of the most important things a video game developer can do for its fans is to offer more flexibility to their player character. After all, the more players can control over what they are, what they can do, and how much things they can change, the more they tend to not only continue to play the game, but also to start again and then do it over. Because as a totally new player character, this possibility is endless. World of Warcraft is usually just the case.
Players have many races and classes to choose from if they want. When they decide to try to do something else they can create a new character, which is simple. But this raises an interesting question. Are World of Warcraft players loyal to their first characters?
This is from the Battle.net user LSWindRunner, who pointed out that his original Blood Elf Rogue is the only character he has ever had and will not change:
“STUCK WITH HER THROUGH THICK AND THIN AND SHE’S THE ONLY CHAR I’LL DO CONTENT WITH NO MATTER HOW LONG WOW’S AROUND.”
It is loyal, enviable, and many players in World of Warcraft do like that. But for others, this is not a necessary thing. In fact, a Battle.net user pointed out that they not only constantly switch characters and classes (they apparently get bored really easily), but the first character they produced has been “long abandoned.”
There are some other players who are not too loyal to their first character, but when new expansion releases, they will definitely keep them up to date. So this raises the questions. Are you loyal to your first character in World of Warcraft? If so, why? Or if not, why not? We are happy to hear your comments in the comments below.
