As part of their normal maintenence on their Terms of Service, Blizzard Blizzard did a closure of the accounts associated.
But it seems that their aim is to close.
"When we take these actions, we think that the affected accounts are mainly used by the seller's agencies, who exchange in-game wins for real-world currency, and not for the normal game play, so they are permanently closed," WoW CM Ornyx said. "Once these actions are completed, we begin to listen to the players whose accounts were affected but were not affiliated with the seller agencies."
Since then, Blizzard began to investigate all the accounts immediately, and concluded that there are players inadvertently encountered crossfire. But they still win the deal, so Blizzard reduced their judgment to the level that was suitable for winning the deal. Some of the infractions were temporary bans that by the time the investigation had concluded, were already completed.
But some of the players did not win the trading at all - these players were given 30 days of free game time for the trouble.
"We'd like to make it clear that we have fully identified the mistakes that have led to this problem and are confident that future actions will not have the same mistakes," concludes Ornyx. "That is to say, we also want to remind the player to win the deal to win things such as honor, artifact power or achievement that is still winning the deal and is subject to the same punishments as win-trading in order to gain rating."
