The multiplayer online RPG "World of Warcraft" was included in the list of technological innovations that will be featured in the Make Software: Change the World exhibit in Computer History Museum on Jan. 28, 2017. The purpose of this exhibition is to explore the origins and effects of seven applications that change the rules of the game around the world and have had a tremendous impact on one's daily life.
Wow from the Blizzard Entertainment is the only video game featured on the Make Software: Change the World exhibit list. Among them, the "World of Warcraft" is the ancestor of all multiplayer online role-playing games created by Blizzard Entertainment, and the game was released in 2004, Gamasutra reported.
Each of the massively multiplayer online role-playing games released after the World of Warcraft has inherited some of its game elements. WoW is considered as the world's most successful MMORPG, because "World of Warcraft" is also the game which makes great profits and the market value of Blizzard Entertainment.
According to Computer History, an overview of the 2012 program exhibition explains that games are already a huge part of computing, and games have driven many of its technological developments. As the exhibition is designed for adults, families and schools, it features touch-screen interaction and multimedia, including software labs at the exhibition center where guests can explore coding hands-on.
